The new Student Success Center at the University of Arkansas is a multi-purpose building, which will be used to provide students with assistance and guidance for an enhanced college experience. Bernhard provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and structural design services, energy modeling, measurement and verification plan development, commissioning, as well as construction administration services for the new, four-story facility.
The 71,000 square foot building includes a 360 advising studio, writing studio, classrooms, study labs, conference rooms, learning commons for tutoring and peer academic mentoring, a faculty support center, and a dining hall. The facility is a hub for student support services located in the heart of campus.
The university has a goal to achieve LEED certification on construction projects on campus and the design team incorporated many sustainable features, including a unique chilled beam HVAC system. The facility opened in January 2022 and is expected to achieve LEED Silver certification.
