Lafayette-based LHC Group needed additional space for the company’s growth in the home health and hospice care sector. The 200,000 square foot addition can house more than 1,000 employees and includes offices, conference areas, food service, and a pharmacy. The new three-story office buildings adjoin their existing headquarters and are served by a 9,500 square foot outdoor chiller and generator yard.
Bernhard provided mechanical, electrical, and building controls installation on the project. The project team utilized design-assist delivery, which integrates design professionals and contractors to incorporate contracting expertise into the project’s design. One challenge of the project was noise control. Since the existing headquarters remained in operation throughout the construction period, teams had to limit excess noise that would impact regular operations. The layout of the addition meant that construction could be isolated from existing areas, allowing employees to work with minimal disruption. Construction of the new addition was completed in October 2021.
