On November 30, 2023, New Jersey based Hackensack Meridian Health (“HMH”) closed a 30-year enterprise-wide Energy-as-a-Service partnership with Bernhard. HMH operates 17 hospitals across eight counties with nearly 4,000 licensed beds, roughly 35,000 employees and 6,500 physicians.
Bernhard will implement over $134M of improvements for HMH that will generate an average of 33.4% guaranteed utility cost savings and a 10% reduction in carbon emissions annually.
As a result of our pioneering partnership, HMH will own the largest solar and battery energy storage system of any not-for-profit healthcare provider in the U.S. This significant milestone sets a new standard in sustainable healthcare practices and shows HMH’s unparalleled commitment to energy resilience and environmental sustainability.
