East Alabama Medical Center (EAMC) is a public healthcare authority with headquarters in Opelika, AL. The dominant healthcare provider in the Auburn-Opelika area, EAMC owns and operates two hospitals with more than 400 licensed beds in total: EAMC-Main in Opelika and EAMC-Lanier in Valley, Alabama.

EAMC partnered with Bernhard to develop and execute an enterprise-level energy asset concession arrangement. The project encompasses both campuses and includes $30 million in upfront infrastructure improvements and more than $800,000 in projected utility cost reduction. Construction is slated to begin on November 2.

For EAMC, the transaction provides significant liquidity and addresses a backlog of capital improvements while preserving the authority’s sound credit rating.
