The Louisiana State University Medical Center is a medical care and research facility that covers 16 blocks of the city, and totals over 1.5 million square feet. Bernhard provided mechanical and plumbing construction services for this $1.1 billion project.

The University Medical Center campus houses a number of buildings. The Diagnostic and Treatment Building is six stories and covers 750,000 square feet. The Ambulatory Care Building contains six floors with a 258,000-square-foot area. Between this building and the diagnostic and treatment building, a total of 86 miles of pipe and 1.9 million pounds of sheet metal were installed.
