Bernhard provided design assist HVAC and plumbing services for an expansion of the Gaylord Palms Resort in Kissimmee, Florida. The project included a six-story addition of 303 guest rooms and a new, 90,000-square-foot conference center. The mechanical systems for the new addition and expansion are served by the existing central energy plant. More than 4,000 linear feet of pipe were installed on the roof to connect the plant to the new conference center. During 18 months of construction, the new facilities were connected to the existing plant without a single service interruption or shutdown. Additional features of the project’s construction included use of HVAC heating water to heat the adventure river and two new tubs that were added to the facility. Specialized smoke control and garage ventilation control systems were also included as part of the construction. The project was part of the hotel’s largest expansion in its 19-year history.
