Bernhard TME provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection design services, structural design, construction administration, and energy modeling services for a new LEED certified middle school in the Pulaski County Special School District.
The three-story design will house 800 students and will replace the district’s existing middle school that sits adjacent to the new facility. The new campus includes state-of-the-art classrooms, a competition gym, and indoor football training field, multiple media labs, and a practice gym that doubles as a storm shelter. Part of the LEED design incorporates an automated building controls system for lighting and HVAC that integrate with the district’s existing energy management system. The lighting system will monitor daylight entering the buildings and reduce light levels as needed, saving energy costs automatically.
