Bernhard Energy Solutions™ provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection design services, as well as construction administration, for a new headquarters for Murphy Oil Company in El Dorado, Arkansas. The building is an 86,000-square-foot facility that houses the company’s data center and is designed to remain operational in the case of critical situations. The facility included redundant chilled water, heating water and electrical systems, and the data center was designed using best practices for critical infrastructure.
Bernhard’s™ technology team worked with the owner’s Information Technology (IT) department to develop standards and a scope of work. Bernhard™ assisted the owner in issuing a request for proposals for all the necessary IT infrastructure, access controls, video surveillance, facility paging and television/satellite services equipment for the headquarters. The group met on several occasions to outline the facility’s current needs and develop designs capable of accommodating future uses of the facility, such as up sizing the internal data cabling to handle increased future bandwidth and installing a strategic fiber feed throughout the facility.
