The University Medical Center New Orleans, an academic medical campus and the region’s only level 1 Trauma Center, covers 16 blocks of downtown New Orleans.  The campus covers 38 acres and totals over 1.5 million square feet. Designed and constructed to replace hurricane-damaged Charity Hospital, the $1.1 billion new-construction project was completed in 2015 and was designed to withstand the effects of natural disasters including wind, floods and earthquakes.

Bernhard provided mechanical and plumbing construction services for the project and installed more than 86 miles of pipe and 1.9 million pounds of sheet metal throughout the campus.
