The New Orleans Airport launched a $993.7 million capital program involving the construction of a new world class terminal and related facilities on the north side of Airport property. The capital program included construction of the North Terminal and enabled several infrastructure projects such as the airfield lighting vault relocation and FAA navigational aids relocation, construction of a storm water pump station, and a new on-airport roadway system.

The new North Terminal has forty-two (42) airline gates and offers an improved passenger experience with a consolidated checkpoint offering greater ease and efficiency for passengers going through security and an in-line baggage system where passengers can drop off checked baggage at the ticket counters. Other amenities include an adjacent 2,190 space parking garage and surface parking.
