Hearst Tower is the third tallest building in Charlotte, North Carolina, with more than 1 million square feet of commercial office space. The project included 28 floors of up-fit, as well as the trading floors, which holds up to 950 traders and is 160,000 square feet. The 47-story mixed-use tower was designed to complement its sister tower, the Interstate/Johnson Lane (IJL) Financial Center (also completed by Bernhard Energy Solutions™).
Through value engineering options, the project team saved several million dollars from the initial budget. The team actively participated in weekly scheduling meetings chaired by the general contractor. Project data maintained by each contractor and subcontractor was fed into a master schedule to ensure up-to-date information across all parties. Any missed days due to weather or other causes beyond the project team’s control were made up on weekends. As a result, the project was delivered on budget and on schedule.
