Bernhard and Hampton University entered into a 20-year EaaS partnership in December 2021. Through the partnership, Bernhard is delivering $213 million in cost savings to the University over the term of the agreement. The University’s culture of innovation and investment in STEM and technology-focused education is at the forefront of the EaaS partnership.

The project addresses $41 million of deferred maintenance needs and transfers the risk of operation and maintenance of the University’s essential utility infrastructure to Bernhard over the next two decades, providing long-term budget certainty and reliability to the University.

The improvements to Hampton University’s infrastructure are expected to be completed during the next 30 months and includes the construction of a new chilled water and heating water plant, fully integrated building automation system with digital controls, interior and exterior lighting upgrades, retro-commissioning of mechanical systems, and the implementation of the Bernhard Connect® platform for data analytics and automatic fault detection.

The improvements dramatically improve the energy infrastructure on campus, reducing energy and water consumption by 46%, and reducing Hampton’s Greenhouse Gas Emissions by 37%.
