The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality’s (ADEQ) six-story office building is designed to represent the standards that the department is striving to uphold throughout the built environment in Arkansas. From the initial site selection all the way through to the interior finish-out, ADEQ demonstrated how a building can make a positive impact on the environment.
Bernhard Energy Solutions™ provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection engineering design, energy services and construction administration.
This six-story facility has been officially recognized for LEED-NC v2.1 Gold certification by the USGBC. The building has also been recognized by the Green Building Initiative (GBI) for achieving a building rating of Three Green Globes. With these distinctions, ADEQ’s headquarters is the first green state government building in Arkansas. In addition to serving as office and administrative space for the department, the building is used for educational purposes to illustrate sustainable design strategies and to demonstrate the positive effects of interaction with a healthy building.
